The difference between rocks and minerals is that rocks are made up of two or more minerals. Minerals don't have other minerals in them. If you break a mineral you will only see that mineral.

The difference between a rock and a mineral is that if you break a rock apart a rock you will be able to sort the things that make up the rock into groups.(there are two or more minerals in a rock. ) I agree with Noa that if you break a mineral apart you will see only mineral because a mineral is made of only elements.
