How do people make a difference in their communities? This unit, we will research community projects and choose a project that would be important for our community. We will research different resources that could be used to complete this project, and find out how other communities handled the same kind of project. This project can be one that you actually do or one that you just plan to do.
We will write persuasive letters to Mrs. DiMarco, asking her to sponsor the projects. We will explain why the projects are worthy of attention and support, and how we plan to execute them. Our overall goal is to persuade her to take on the project for the school so that we can make a difference in our community.

This week, we will continue to develop reasons that our projects are worthy of school-wide attention.
We will find solid reasons that the service project is worth doing.
We will collect evidence that supports the notion that there is a group of people or animals who will benefit from our help.
Use these questions as a guide:
1. Who or what is in need of help?
2. Why is there a need?
3. Are others trying to help? Who? Try to find the names of famous or important people who feel the same as you.
4. Why is this project important to you?
5. Why is this project important to the community?
6. What sets your project apart from others? What other projects are similar to yours?
7. Why should you and others invest time and resources in it? Why should people in the community support you?
