Hello Room 19 Families,
I hope you enjoyed the long weekend! I have a few important announcements and requests.
This week there is a Materials Distribution Day scheduled for Wednesday, but I will let you know tomorrow if the 1st grade is participating. Regardless of our participation, I am asking that you print two things for your child. One is a "Friend File" needed for Ms. Justine's class. Students should not write on it yet, but instead should bring it to class on Thursday. The second is a sheet of tens and hundreds base ten blocks. Please help your child cut out the tens and hundreds and bring them to class Thursday. These can be added to the baggie of small cubes that will act as our units or ones. Thank you so much!
We will be watching a small portion (taped, not live) of the Inauguration on Wednesday or Thursday to honor this important moment in the American democratic process.
Please make sure you are asking your child if he/she completed the daily assignments in Schoology. You can also change your notifications as a parent to receive updates. I find this helpful as a parent myself. You can also periodically check the grades page to see if anything is missing. There are assignments I have not graded yet, but if your child hasn't turned something in, you can see it easily.
This will be the last week that I need to meet with individual students for the Middle-of-the-Year Dibels and TRC assessments.
We started Theatre on Friday. Students will be graded on participation and on their weekly journals. Each Wednesday, they will watch a video and then write a journal entry during the asynchronous learning time.
Please let me know if you are having trouble in any way. I know this is a hard time right now for many. My office hours usually start at 1:45, but because of the reading assessments, I am available to meet between 2:30 - 3:30 by appointment. 😀
