As you rewatch the read aloud, think about the following two questions:
- Henry David Thoreau said, “It’s not what you look at that matters. It’s what you see.” The children in the story did not see all of the wonderful qualities in Maya. What are some good things about Maya that they missed seeing? What was good about Maya?
- What did you learn from Chloe?

Please complete this assignment by Tuesday, March 31. There should be evidence that:
- Students rewatched the video (which means they mention specific details from the book). *We practiced this a lot in class. Remind them they know how to provide text evidence and can do this independently.
- Students wrote what they wanted to say first (which means that their ideas are well thought out). Students can read from what they wrote, but should try to look at the camera occasionally. *The writing of their ideas should be an independent activity as well. We have not had much practice, however, with practicing reading what we wrote so that we can look at the camera. This will become easier as time goes on. For now, they can just try to look up.
Have a great day,
Mrs. Polay
