Our Room Parent, Sabine, will send out information and updates about class happenings this year, but the pictures page will continue to be updated periodically (click here).
Just a few things...
Please sign up for a parent/teacher conference by clicking here to visit my SignUpGenius page.
5-Week Notices will go home September 29. You will receive one if your child is at risk of not meeting grade level standards in any curricular area. Please don't worry if your child receives one. There will be suggestions listed as to what you can do at home to help your child improve. We will discuss your child's progress during parent/teacher conferences in October. The reporting period ends in November, and everyone will receive the first report card on November 17. Please let me know if you have any questions.
I updated the pictures page.
Classroom Volunteers: Complete my survey and return in your child's homework folder.
Scholastic Book Orders are due September 29.
Friday, September 29th is Twin Day at Warner (but triplets, quadruplets, etc. are even more fun!).
Lastly, I know it is short notice, but if anyone is free and would like to help, I could use a couple of parent volunteers to help in the class this Tuesday from 1 - 1:43. I could use assistance taking the students through the engineering design process for a STEM project we are doing for Johnny Appleseed Day. I would also need you to help distribute materials and clean up. Please email me if you would like to help and you are an approved LAUSD volunteer (clear TB test, approved application with the school). Thank you!
Have a great week,
We have a new student - welcome Jessica! :)
You can find the list of birthday celebration ideas on the Parent Resources page or click here.
There is no school on Thursday. Happy New Year to those who celebrate Rosh Hashanah!
Scholastic Book order forms will go home periodically. This first will come home in this week's homework folders. If you wish to order, please do so by September 29. Click here to learn how to order online.
Thank you to everyone who has signed on to help with a volunteer position, and a big thanks to Sabine for organizing it all. :)
Lastly, I have updated the pictures page with some pictures from Andre's in-class birthday celebration, and short videos from reading and writing workshop and counting collections.
Thank you so much for the birthday wishes and for all of the flowers!
I updated the pictures page, and I added a link to the Back to School Morning presentation on the Parent Resources page. I will send out a list of birthday celebration ideas by September 22. Click here to access the classroom volunteer survey form.
We had our first meeting with our second grade buddies in Ms. Schleimer's class, room 6. We will meet periodically throughout the year and do various activities. The students in our class were paired with one or two second graders. The groupings will remain the same over the year. It was a lot of fun and was enjoyed by all. It's nice to know more people on campus!
I am unable to check my email during the school day. Important papers (like doctors notes) should be left with the office. While I am sometimes able to check my email more frequently, you can count on me being able to check it once a day, Monday through Friday. I will respond within 48 hours. Have a pressing matter? It is best to leave a note for me in the office. Also, our room moms, Sabine and Shadi, are available and may be able to answer and school related questions you have.
Have a great week,
