Hello Parents,
I have a few important reminders for this week:
1) Our art teacher, Mrs. Conklin, is having an art show after school tomorrow. Stop by room 21 to see some of the latest work by the 4th graders.
2) Make up picture day is Tuesday, Nov 5. If your child is retaking the pictures, be sure to send back the ones you already received. I am still checking to find out if we can retake our class picture. I will let you know tomorrow.
3) If you have not scheduled your November parent-teacher conference, please visit: http://www.SignUpGenius.com/go/10C0E4FAFAD29A4F85-november. Conferences are being held the 12 - 14. Wednesday and Thursday are minimum days (8am - 12:30pm).
The district announced the periodic assessment schedule for language arts and math. Fourth graders will take a writing assessment the week of November 18. It will be given over the course of three days. Students will be given about 45 minutes each day to complete the task. The math assessment will consist of one critical thinking problem and will be given during the second week of December. There is nothing specific that your scholar should do to prepare, but it is crucial that he or she be fluent in basic arithmetic. The most commonly made mistakes on the quizzes and tests involve basic math facts and/or careless errors.
It was great to see all of the hard work that was put into the Explorer Reports. Most of your scholars presented on Friday, but we will resume the presentations tomorrow afternoon. Some chose to be recorded and we will post the videos on the news site in the coming weeks. We also recorded part of our "music video" for "Heat, Light, and Motion" on Halloween. It was A LOT of fun! As usual, visit the Language Arts page for the Reading Log due Friday, our Poem of the Week assignments, and the Treasures Skills Sheet for the week.
Have a great week,
Christina Polay
