A sleepy hello to all,
We had a GREAT time in Sacramento, but I'm sure everyone is still tired! I received many compliments throughout the day about what a great group we were. The parents did a fantastic job of helping to organize and rally the group. The kids were enthusiastic and well-behaved. Thank you to everyone who helped!
This week continues to be a busy one. We are taking the math portion of the Smarter Balanced Assessment on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. We also have the Warner Walk on Friday, which means our lunch will begin five minutes earlier, at 12:15. I do not know how long testing will take. Overall, the tests in Language Arts last week took much longer than anticipated. We did not finish our final Language Arts test until 1:30pm (including a short recess and a normal 40 minute lunch break)! I will do my best to manage the time this Friday so that students get the break they need, but also so that we finish by 12:15.
No one can enter the classroom until we are finished. There will be a testing sign posted on our door. WAVE has asked parent volunteers to arrive at 11:45 or earlier. If you come early, please do not come to the class or peek in the windows, as every distraction slows us down. The Warner Walk will be a nice way to end our week, and I hope to see everyone there. Pledge sheets are due tomorrow.
I usually announce the new Scholar of the Week at the end of the day on Friday. It slipped my mind at the airport on Friday night, so without further ado, our new Scholar of the Week is Brandon!
Homework this week:
I will post pictures from our trip on the Pictures page. If you have any pictures from Sacramento, please email me and I can send you a link to my dropbox account.
Have a great week,
Christina Polay
