Hello everyone,

I can't believe it is almost Open House! I look forward to seeing you Thursday night between 6:15 - 7:30.

Polay's Knot Untying Face-Off was a lot of fun. Tara won for "Quickest to Untie a Knot," in a little over 2 minutes. The original Cobble's Knot would be no match for her! Aidan and Aiden tied for "Hardest Knot to Untie," as no one was able to defeat the knots they created.

The book fair is underway. Please sign up to work a shift if you can. We will visit as a class at 8:45 on Thursday morning.

New pictures are posted.

School begins at 8 am on Friday and ends at 12:30.

This week's homework assignments:
  • The at-home Science fair project is due Tuesday, May 12.
  • Math: Problem solving sheet and "Faceing Math" activity. Students must show all of their work.
  • Science: Read pages 143 - 148 of Science Resources. Answer questions on pages 146 and 148. Please include text evidence and science vocabulary, write in complete sentences, and proofread your work.
  • Social Studies: Read and answer questions in the "floppy" textbook, Our California: 1) Read and answer questions 1-4 on ages 97 - 101.     2) Read and answer questions 1-2 on pages 103 - 105.     3) Read and answer questions on page 106.

Happy Mother's Day, Moms!

Have a great week,
Christina Polay

Hello everyone,

I had a lot of fun at the rock climbing party. A BIG thank you to the Amin family for their generous donation!

Great job participating in the Warner Walk! We won a pizza party for having the most pledges and participation for the upper-grades. We will have our party with our kindergarten buddies, since they won for the lower-grades.

The wait is over... Polay's Knot Untying Face-Off will be this Tuesday afternoon!

We have five weeks left in the last reporting period. I would like to see all of my scholars recommit to doing their best work for the remainder of the year. Please encourage your child to work hard and to take pride in his/her work. Thanks!

This week's homework assignments:
  • Math practice and problem solving sheets.
  • "About the Contributors" assignment. Students should answer questions about themselves in order to write a short author's bio in class for open house. These can be turned in before Monday.
  • Science: Read article and answer questions.
  • Paired passage reading and writing. Reread the passages we read in class (myth and informational) and answer questions in the packet. The third question requires additional paper and should be at least a paragraph. This should be a complete response and should take longer than five minutes!

Have a great week,
Christina Polay
